| His Majesty’s prize for environment protection |
MUSCAT As per the Royal Order of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said, HE Yahya Bin Saud Al Sulaimi, Minister of Education, will present the ‘HM’s Prize for Environment Protection’ at the Hungarian Academy for Sciences in Budapest on Saturday as part of the celebrations to mark World Science Day which aims to promote peace and development.
Al Sulaimi said the HM’s Prize for Environment Protection became a reality as the result of a generous donation to Unesco by His Majesty the Sultan.
The objective of the prize is to recognise outstanding contributions made by an individual, group of individuals, institutes or organisations to preserve the environment which His Majesty the Sultan feels is a significant step towards saving the environment from devastation.
Al Sulaimi added the prize is to encourage efforts to protect the environment as well as develop resources to ensure a healthy life.
“Environmental issues and preservation of natural resources are part of His Majesty’s priorities,” Al Sulaimi said, adding that the Sultanate’s stand on environmental issues is evident from the policies adopted under the wise leadership of His Majesty the Sultan.
