Buraimi riding high on Blessed Renaissance
MUSCAT HE Sheikh Yahya Bin Hamoud Al Ma’amari, Governor of Buraimi, said July 23 was etched in the memory of every Omani as an eternal day in the modern history of the Sultanate.

He said development and prosperity which the Blessed Renaissance laid the foundation stone had reached every nook and cranny of the country with both citizens and residents reaping its fruits.

He, on behalf of all people of the country, expressed sincere greetings, loyalty and allegiance to His Majesty Sultan Qaboss Bin Said on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Blessed Renaissance.

Al Ma’amari said over the last 40 years, people in Buraimi governorate had enjoyed the fruits of the Blessed Renaissance in the form of better education, health, housing, electricity, water and road services. He said the Renaissance accorded great importance to the development of human resources in the governorate. He said opening of Buraimi governorate had made impressive progresses in education during the blessed era. There are 26 schools in the governorate, including 18 in the Wilayat of Buraimi, seven in the Wilayat of Mahdha and one in the Wilayat of Sininah.

He said Buraimi governorate was given top priority by the Ministry of Education. All preparations are under way to set up a university after the announcement came. Three colleges - medical, engineering and commercial- have allowed for the university in the first stage, he added.

He said the cultural centre in the governorate would be the hub of cultural activities in the wilayat while professional training centre in the governorate could meet the requirements of the job market.

The Buraimi-Hufait double road will be a major landmark in the infrastructure development of the governorate, he added. He also informed that preparations were under way to offer the tender to set up an integrated sports council in an area of 39,665 metres. Besides, major tourism, industrial and garden projects are on the pipeline, he said.
