Around 12,000 illegal labourers leave Sultanate
MUSCAT As many as 11,865 expatriate labours have left the country during the 22 days after the issuance of the Royal Decree enacting amendments to the labour law.

This will help the national labour force get job opportunities in several sectors.

Talking to Oman Tribune, Salim Bin Naseer Al Hadhrami, Director-General of Employment at the Ministry of Manpower, said the Royal Decree to this effect was issued on October 31 and its implementation started on the second day after it was published in the official gazette.

The new amendments, which provide for stringent action against any violation, aim at opening more job opportunities for the citizens.

Hadhrami said the law sought to implement several new procedures and restrictions in the labour market and enacted strong action against any violation.

He also said the employers should adhere to the labour law on sponsorship or change in the professions.
