MUSCAT Students of Melody Music Centre, which is recognised by the Associated Board of Royal School of Music, London have done well in the recently held piano and violin examinations.
Around 50 and 160 students appeared for theory and practical examinations respectively. In the practical examination, 51 students secured distinction, while 45 students secured merit. In theory examinations, 20 students secured distinction, while 15 students secured merit.
Krish Wadhwani, a third grade piano student and Koushik Murali, a first grade piano student scored the highest marks in practical examination.
They secured 135 and 134 out of 150 respectively.
In theory examinations, Krish Wadhwani and Sujith Haridas scored the highest marks. Both scored 95 out of 100.
“Enjoyment through achievement” is a phrase that sums up the Associated Board’s philosophy and earning a Board certificate is a rewarding experience. “The importance of music examinations is not so much that children attain the highest levels in music exams. But rather they gain a sense of having a structured goal to work towards which is viewed as a challenge or opportunity to improve their skills and not just as an opportunity to display the competence,” a representative of Melody Music Centre said.
Melody Music Centre provides a platform for students to perform before audience through their monthly programme called Ensemble. “This helps students to overcome stage fear and makes them ready to perform before the examiner at the time of examination,” the representative said. Through this monthly programme, Melody Music Centre provides an opportunity for the parents to assess their ward’s performance directly. This also helps teachers to identify the problems of each and every student, the representative added.
