Muscat The number of Omanis employed at the private sector's establishments during the first four months in 2008 stood at 28,448.
Mahfoudh Bin Hamdan Al Wahaibi, deputy director-general of employment at the Manpower Ministry, told Oman News Agency (ONA) that the number of degree holders who were employed in the private sector stood at 1,080 holders of diploma at 1,750 and secondary school certificate at 10,327.
In all, 2,174 Omanis were employed in the Oil and Gas sector, 5,624 in the trade sector, 3,837 in the industry sector, 1,855 in the travel, tourism and services sector, 8,592 in the contracting sector and 1,201 in the finance and insurance sector.
The number of under-training manpower stood at 1,734 during the first four months in 2008, he said.
Plenty of jobs are available at the Manpower Ministry in the different economic and service sectors.
Young Omanis who wish to take up jobs in the private sector may approach labour offices across the Sultanate's various governorates and regions to register their names, he added.
The number of young Omanis employed in the private sector had increased in the recent years, in response to the Royal directives of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said and owing to
the current economic boom in the Sultanate, he added.
