| Shura, Mehrzi discuss issues in tourism sector |
MUSCAT Shura Council hosted HE Ahmed bin Nasser Al Mehrzi, Tourism Minister, for the second day to discuss issues in the tourism sector.
The session was chaired by HE Khalid Bin Hilal Al Ma’awali, Chairman of the Shura Council.
The session held talks on development of the tourism sector and the challenges facing the sector. The Shura members put forward many proposals and demands about opening new horizons of activities that promote and enrich tourism and contribute to the creation of a real tourist environment and industry. The Shura will convene on Tuesday to discuss topics including the Convention on the Establishment of Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector and the Sultanate’s membership at the corporation, discussion of the report of the Economic and Financial Committee on joining the International Convention on the Simplification and Harmonisation of Customs Procedures, and its report on the Convention on the Avoidance of Double Taxation and Prevention of Tax Evasion with respect to taxes on income between the Sultanate, Tanzania and Portugal.
