| Preparations under way for Oman sports expo 2013 |
MUSCAT The supervising committee of Oman Sports Exhibition and Conference 2013 has confirmed that 65 per cent of the available areas have been booked already. The exhibition will be held from February 4 to 6 at Oman Exhibition Centre, according to a press release.
Fahad Abdullah Al Raisi, Director- General of Sports Welfare and Development, the General Supervisor of the Exhibition, said: “The response to the first edition of Oman Sports Exhibition and Conference is unprecedented, booking is confirmed for 65 per cent of the space available and we expect the remaining spaces to be booked soon in the coming period.”
Al Raisi added: “The committee had sent formal invitations to the Omani Olympic Committee, sports federations, clubs and sports committees, actors and institutions associated to sports in the Sultanate to participate. He said the ministry’s corner at the exhibition will come up in an area of 150 metre at the Oman Exhibition Centre that will be divided into specialised areas to showcase what we have achieved in sports during the last 45 years. Also, it will be divided into several different corners to accommodate various sports organisations in the Sultanate as well as institutes, training centres, government sectors, schools, companies and institutions with special programmes of social responsibility.”
The conference, which will be held on the sidelines of the sports exhibition will address the study, analysis and debate a number of themes related to sports. It is also expected to discuss several important topics pertaining to the field of sports such as, sports medicine, professionalism, engineering fields and design, infrastructure on sport, transport and communications and technology information.
Fahad Al Raisi has invited those interested in sports and sports enthusiasts to participate in the exhibition.
