| Tourist push dries up fuel pumps in Dhofar |
MUSCAT An unexpected rise in tourist inflow to the Governorate of Dhofar led to fuel shortage in Haima in Al Wusta region. A large number of vehicles were seen lined up in front of the stations waiting for their turn to fill fuel tanks. Several tourists who were on their way to Salalah to celebrate Eid holidays were delayed because of the unexpected fuel shortage.
According to Musaab Bin Abdullah Al Mahrouqi, CEO of Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries Company (Orpic), the refineries of Sohar and Mina Al Fahl are operating in full capacity and there is no interruption in fuel supply during the holidays. In a statement to ONA, Mahrouqi, said the shortage in some stations on the Nizwa – Thumrait road was a result of increased number of vehicles and not because of supply interruption.
