| Social Development Ministry receives donations from OCO |
MUSCAT The Ministry of Social Development received a cheque worth 186,000 rials from Oman Charitable Organisation (OCO) on Saturday.
The cheque was received by HE Sheikh Mohammed Bin Said Al Kalbani, Minister of Social Development, from HE Dr Abdullah Bin Mohamed Al Sa’eedi, Minister of Legal Affairs and OCO board’s chairman.
Kalbani said that OCO has supported social security categories sponsored by the ministry and assisted various associations and centres that are affiliated or supervised by the ministry.
He said that people are aware of various activities being held in the Sultanate during the Holy Month of Ramadan to help needy families with money, food or subsidies. These activities motivate various segments of society and institutions towards cooperation, togetherness and friendliness.
Ali Bin Ibrahim Al Ra’eesi, chief executive officer of OCO, said that OCO has been, for 12 years since its inception, providing such support to the Ministry of Social Development. It is part of OCO’s contribution to humanitarian work and community development in the country.
OCO is one of the channels of supporting groups that are sponsored by the ministry, as well as other institutions affiliated or supervised by the ministry.
All Al Wafa centres for qualifying the handicapped children will get 21,000 rials. The Early Intervention Association will get 1,000 rials, eight handicapped children care centres get 1,000 rials each, and 1,000 rials will go to Oman Association for Disabled, Muscat branch.
Another 1,000 rials will go to Oman Association for the Disabled, Sohar branch, and 4,000 rials will go to four centres of Al Noor Association for the Blind in Muscat, Dhofar, Nizwa and Sohar -- 1,000 rials for each along with 150,000 rials for cases benefiting from social security regulation.
