| Bakri, ILO delegation discuss insurance issues |
MUSCAT HE Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Al Bakri, Manpower Minister, on Wednesday received an International Labour Organisation (ILO) team that is conducting a study on the financial position of the Public Authority for Social Insurance (Pasi) and ways to improve its benefits and insurance entitlement.
The study is part of the agreement signed between the Sultanate and ILO in November 2011.
The meeting, held at Bakri’s office in the Ministry’s General Diwan, reviewed the programme and methods the team will follow to collect data for the study. The team will also have meetings with production parties — government, employers and employees.
Al Bakri stressed the importance of practical alternatives to ensure equal benefits and pension entitlements provided by Pasi and other pension funds in the Sultanate. He said this could attract national manpower to the private sector.
The team will meet officials of government departments, OCCI, General Federation of the Sultanate’s Workers and private sector establishments. During the 10-month study, the team will visit the Sultanate a number of times.
