MUSCAT The standardised Admission Centre will announce on Sunday the first list for students admitted to the higher education institutes for the academic year 2012/2013.
The statistics during the admission process showed that the higher education institutes offered 25,610 seats for the registered students in the E-Admission System, while 665 seats were available through interviews and examinations.
The centre said that the number of vacant seats, after completing the first sorting process, stood at 5,971 seats for students; 35 per cent of those seats are for interior missions (government-sponsored students admitted in private institutes), while 41 per cent are available in the vocational training centres.
The reason for vacant seats in the interior missions is that the applicants do not have the required marks.
The centre has announced that the procedures for completing the registration and approving the seats for students begins on August 5 and ends on 11, while the completion of the registration process in the institute where students have chosen will begin on August 5 and last till 29.
