MUSCAT The Council of Ministers held periodic meeting to assess the progress of various developmental programmes in the various governorates of the Sultantate during the month of July.
The Sultanate’s Council of Ministers reviewed demands for projects by various governorates and urged the authorities to submit specific programmes in this regard.
It urged officials to conduct more field visits to regions to review the progress of development programmes and requirements of citizens and report to the council on the outcome of such meetings.
The Council of Ministers has decided that the government will cooperate with the private sector in various development projects that target the recruitment of more national manpower and training them.
The council urged the youth of the Sultanate to accept work in both public and private sectors after it found during its review of employment programme that they were reluctant to take up work in the private sector.
The council reviewed the report of the Food Security Committee and steps taken by the authorities to ensure the Sultanate’s food security. It urged the authorities to monitor the market and ensure the Consumer Protection Law is followed in letter and spirit.
The council also reviewed efforts to ensure stability of prices of fish and meat. It also approved reducing charges for agricultural land use.
It also stressed on the need to give priority to tenders for developmental and service projects of urgent nature. The council will continue to examine this issue with the Tender Board.
The government will support Oman Air to provide more domestic and international services and facilities, the statement by the council said.
The council approved the joining of the Sultanate’s Scientific Club to the Clubs Society affiliated to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation.
The council of Ministers also approved organising a multi-language mobile exhibition on Omanis role in the Islamic and human civilisation throughout the ages.
