| Awqaf Ministry launches applications for tablet PCs |
MUSCAT HE Ahmed Bin Saud Al Siyabi, Secretary-General at Iftta Office in the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs, has launched the application ‘News of the Ministry and Ramadan 1433’ for smartphones and tablet PCs.
The ministry’s news programme enables reading of the ministry’s news, events and speeches. It allows users to communicate directly via email and social media. Ramadan 1433 programme allows the access to fasting-related fatwa (advisory opinions), prayer timing and events of the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs’ during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
The two applications have instant notification service. The user can download both programmes through Apple iPhone and Google Android devices by entering their names in the search engines or through MARA OMAN icon.
The applications were overseen by Mohammed Bin Said Al Ma’amari, scientific adviser to the Minister’s Office. The technical management was done by Jabir Bin Murshid Al Rawahi, religious affairs researcher assigned to the Office of Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs. The work was conducted by Omani youths and developed by Smart Application Company.
The Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs had earlier launched prayer application, Zakat (charity) application and Omani calendar application. The ministry’s action plan includes similar projects to keep pace with rapid information boom.
