| Cops given deadline to arrest molesters |
GUWAHATI Asom Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi gave police a 48-hour deadline to arrest all the youths involved in the molesation of a girl here even as raids were conducted on Saturday in the hunt for 12 more wanted men including a government employee, a prime accused.
A controversy also broke out over the video footage of the incident with RTI activist Akhil Gogoi alleging that a journalist who filmed it on Monday night had ‘instigated’ it, a charge rejected as baseless by a local TV channel concerned and condemned by scribe bodies.
Raids were being conducted at suspected hideouts of the dozen men included the government employee Amarjyoti Kalita both Asom and in neighbouring states, police said.
