| Omani products expo in Salalah draws crowds |
MUSCAT The Omani Products Exhibition at the Salalah Tourism Festival is attracting an overwhelming number of visitors from around the world.
The expo, being held as part of the consumer expo at the Municipality Recreational Centre in Dhofar, highlights the importance of buying local products and their local and international competitiveness.
The event is part of the series of ‘Omani Campaign 2012’ organised by the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE), with participation of around 80 institutions from the government and private sectors, according to a press release.
“PEIE has signed an agreement with Oman International Trade and Exhibitions (OITE) to organise the Omani Products Expo as part of the consumer exhibition during the Salalah Tourism Festival. The consumer expo has two sections and one is dedicated to Omani products. This has attracted a large number of consumers, compared to previous years,” said Hamood Bin Abdullah Al Balushi, director of the Omani products department at the Directorate-General of Marketing and Media, PEIE.
Al Balushi said PEIE is organising a series of events for families and children in Dhofar governorate to introduce Omani products to various segments of the society. The campaign targets Omani Women’s Associations and centres for children.
“The Omani Products Exhibition follows the success witnessed by previous expos held in the governorates. These events and exhibitions confirm the attention paid by the Omani government to promoting local-made products,” Balushi said.
Meanwhile, participants in the exhibition stressed the importance of taking part in such expos to spread awareness about their profiles, products and services. Mundher Al Bahdour, sales coordinator at Oman Cables Industry, Salalah, said, “The benefit for our institution through this exhibition is that we are promoting the high quality products we manufacture. There has been an excellent response from local and foreign consumers.”
Zuweina Al Jabriya, marketing official at Sleep Ezze, said the expo is an important platform to showcase local-made products. “The number of visitors to the exhibition continues to increase year by year,” Al Jabriya said.
Mohamed Mubarak Salman, A’Safwah Dairy, which is a part of Dhofar Cattle Feed Company, said, “Omani products are not only present locally but also globally. Thus, the exhibition offers us the opportunity to underline the capabilities of local-made products.”
Ali Miran, executive of marketing at Oman Textile Mills Company, added, “Participation in the expo helps promote our products. We are here to inform consumers of the advanced level and quality reached by local products, especially in textiles and fabrics. Besides, the PEIE spares no effort to support the Omani products.”
The event ends on July 18.
