| Environmental guide on Oman to be launched |
MUSCAT Shell Development, Oman will on Sunday mark the launch of a first-of-its-kind comprehensive environmental Guide, titled ‘Explore Oman in an Environmentally Friendly Manners’.
The event will be held at Crowne Plaza Muscat in the presence of officials from the Tourism Ministry, members of the Environment Society of Oman (ESO) and Shell Development Oman executives.
The Guide will cater to those who wish to have an exceptional experience while exploring the Omani environment. It encourages readers to be socially responsible, to preserve the environment, and leave a positive impression after each visit.
The Guide covers the governorates of the Sultanate in three main environmental areas — wadis (valleys) and mountains, coasts and islands and desert areas.
It also has chapters on how to tour parts of the Sultanate, how to plan well for an expedition and how to deal with emergencies.
The main message of the Guide is included in a series of environmental symbols that are the first of their kind in the Sultanate. They provide advice on the optimum method to enjoy one’s expedition.
The Guide is printed on recycled paper and the ink used is made of plant dyes that do not pollute the environment. The printing process meets environmental standards in terms of reducing consumables and its harmful impact on the environment.
