US embassy to take part in Salalah festival
Staff Reporter

MUSCAT The US embassy in Muscat will participate in the Salalah Tourist Festival for the third consecutive year.

The embassy’s stall will showcase educational and cultural programmes offered by the US embassy to Omanis. Also, unique tourist, cultural and educational books will be distributed to visitors during the embassy’s five-day participation from July 7, according to a press release.

Erin Uzes, acting public affairs officer at the US Embassy, said: “The US embassy is proud to participate in this significant cultural event for the third year. Our participation features many activities to entertain and educate people of all ages, including the younger generation, to highlight this year’s festival theme: The Year of the Child.

Items showcased include interactive computer games on study in the US, colouring books with US and Omani cultural sites, and maps and posters, Uzes said.

After the successful debut of a cultural performance last year, the embassy will host a one-of-a-kind cultural performance by ‘The Chinle Valley Singers’, a Navajo native American group, at the Festival Recreational Centre. It will be held in association with Dhofar Municipality, the release said.

Kathryn Conrad, EducationUSA adviser, will answer queries from students and families on study in the US. The US embassy’s participation at the festival is part of its cultural programmes this year throughout Oman.
