| OCCI to cash in on trade rating |
MUSCAT HE Khalil Bin Abdullah Al Khonji, Chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), hailed the achievements of the Sultanate and the Omani economy in building on its achievements.
He was commenting on the Sultanate being ranked second at the Arab level in the Global Enabling Trade Report 2012 published by the World Economic Forum in Davos, climbing four positions from 2010, with 4.86 points.
Khonji said the achievement should be used to attract local and foreign investment and to continue the development and modernisation programme adopted by the government.
He said the ranking demonstrates the progress made by the Sultanate in creating conducive environment for trade and employment, given that the report relies on four key indicators — market access, border administration, transport and communication infrastructure and business environment. Khonji said the position reflects the confidence of global institutions in the Sultanate’s business environment. It shows they are aware of the efforts made by the authorities to improve services and laws and regulations to simplify and encourage trade and investment, he said.
