Saif Al Ghafri
RUSTAQ The Tabseel dates season began recently in the Wilayat of Rustaq. The process of Tabseel means collecting the crop of Al Mabsali palm tree.
The young, old and women took part in collecting dates from the palm trees.
The Tabseel season begins by the end of June, when the colour of the dates turns yellow.
The owners and their helpers separate dates from the branches and clean it and boil them in water. The cooked dates, called ‘Faghour,’ are dried in the sun, and packed and sent to the stores of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
Date palm owners rake in good revenue during the season. The price of the crop ranged between 300 rials and 450 rials per tonne this season.
