| ‘Bommalattam’ set for Hollywood |
By Our Correspondent
Veteran filmmaker Bharathiraja is in talks with producers for an English remake of his trilingual Bommalattam (Cinema in Hindi and Rana in Telugu). Sources close to the director confirmed the news adding that he will be announcing the project by August. “He’s planning to remake Bommalattam in English as he feels the story will work well as a thriller in Hollywood. He has already started making changes to the script to suit the international audience,” says the source. The film will be produced by some of the NRI friends of the director, who are planning to approach Hollywood actor Samuel L. Jackson for the lead role. Bommalattam is a cat-and-mouse game between Rana, a film director (Nana Patekar), who is suspected of murdering his muse, and Vivek (Arjun), the cop who is assigned to investigate the case. Vivek also has an ulterior motive to nail the director as his girlfriend, who works as an assistant director for Rana, is rumoured to have fallen for his charms.
Lara Dutta returns to Kollywood
After almost 13 years – the last time we saw her was when she was cast opposite Arjun in Arasatchi — actress Lara Dutta is all set to make a comeback to Kollywood. She will be sharing screenspace with Vikram and Jiiva in Bejoy Nambiar’s forthcoming trilingual, David. She will be seen in all the three versions — Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. This is Lara’s first one film after giving birth to her daughter Saira.
A ‘housefly’ with a murderous instinct
There’s a rather unusual movie that will release next week. Titled Naan E, the film stars a housefly. Yup, you read that right. The movie, directed by SS Rajamouli, is about a housefly taking revenge on a human. The bilingual film will see its release in multiple languages and may see a 3D version in Hindi.
