| Court dissolves OFA board |
MUSCAT The Administrative Court issued a ruling on Monday to dissolve the Board of the Omani Football Association (OFA) and the Ministry of Sports Affairs has been ordered to implement the directive.
The ruling comes in the backdrop of the violations that took place in the elections to the OFA board in August 2011.
The clubs of Al Seeb, Muscat, Oman, Ahli Sidab had filed a suit with the Ministry of Sports Affairs that refused the request to declare the elections void. The court had raised apprehensions on the validity of the ministry’s decision to refuse the request of the clubs.
The decision was appealed and the court issued its decision on Monday to dissolve the board and termed the election invalid.
The Minister of Sports Affairs will hold a meeting on Tuesday to discuss mechanisms to implement the court order and form a temporary panel to run the OFA.
