| Pakistan livestock board eyes Omani market |

MUSCAT Pakistan’s Punjab Livestock and Dairy Development Board (PLDDB) is expected to boost supply of its products to the Sultanate shortly, said Khadim Hussain Kasuri, special adviser to the Chief Minister of Punjab for Livestock and Dairy Development, on Sunday.
Addressing the media at Crowne Plaza Hotel, Khadim Kasuri said he was visiting Oman to explore more areas of cooperation and boost trade relations between the Sultanate and Pakistan.
Pakistan is one of the biggest livestock producers in the world, which has been exporting its produce to Oman. However, there were more opportunities to further these ties between the two countries, he said.
Kasuri lauded the role played by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said in multi-dimensional development of the country. His Majesty with his vision and farsightedness has played exemplary role in development of the country, he said.
“Pakistan has historic and cultural relationship with the Sultanate which opens up more avenues for cooperation,” he said. “The sector has enabled Pakistan to emerge as third largest milk producing country in the world,” he said.
The Punjab province of Pakistan has played an important role in this sector. It has world’s renowned breeds of buffalo, cattle, sheep, goat and camel, he said.
Kasuri said PLDDB has contributed tremendously to the development of livestock and dairy sector in Punjab, including its reproduction and breeding services, skill development of youth from rural Punjab in various related areas.
Kasuri is visiting Oman on the invitation of Al Ittefaq International. During his visit, he will meet leading Omani importers and officials including those from Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
After the press conference, a reception was hosted in his honour. Speaking at the occasion, HE Nawabzada Aminullah Khan Raisani, Ambassador of Pakistan to the Sultanate, said, “Pakistan and Oman being brotherly Muslim countries are enjoying exemplary bilateral relations in every field including trade.”
The reception was attended by prominent Pakistanis living in the Sultanate.
