SALALAH The Craft Products Exhibition Marketing is taking part in the Salalah Tourism Festival 2012, as part of the efforts of the Craft Industries Care Department in Dhofar Governorate in promoting Omani products.
The Craft Industries Care Department is keen to promote local craft and arrange outlets for craftsmen so that they can market their products.
The exhibitions are very important, especially during such annual tourism forums and festivals organised throughout the Sultanate. The exhibition during the Salalah Festival, held this time at Samahram Hall, attracts many visitors from Oman and abroad, and is a clear evidence of the efforts by the organisers to highlight these products and introduce it to every person and household in the country.
A wilayat-level competition in traditional arts was held at the new theatre, which can accommodate 3,000 spectators. Over 12 wilayats from across the Sultanate took part and showcased their cultural and traditional arts. In the contest, the Wilayat of Shalim and Juzur Al Halaniyat displayed the best of folk dances, handicrafts, traditional games and wood industry articles. Also on display were textile and agricultural products.
In the Heritage village at Municipal Recreation Centre, visitors have a chance to see popular furniture, craft industries, a popular recipe café, Omani halwa stands and Omani Khanjars (daggers).
The annual fine arts exhibition — Lahadhat Dhawiyah — by photographers of the Photography Club at Omani Society for Fine Arts in Salalah was opened at the Municipal Recreational Centre on Monday.
It was held under the auspices of HE Eng. Abdul Qadir Bin Ahmed Al Haddad, Deputy Chairman of Dhofar Municipality. The expo, organised as part of the Salalah Tourism Festival, will showcase photos that won awards at local and foreign competitions.
