| Workshop on employer-worker relations gets under way |
MUSCAT A workshop on ‘Regulatory Framework for Relations of Employers with Workforce’ kicked off at City Seasons Hotel on Monday under the patronage of HE Sheikh Khalid Bin Omar Al Marhoun, Minister of Civil Service.
The two-day workshop is organised by the Human Resources and Labour Market Committee at Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) in coordination with a number of stakeholders in the public and private sectors in the Sultanate.
The workshop aims at providing an opportunity for private sector companies and establishments to formulate their opinions on various aspects related to employer-worker relations and employer-state authorities relations.
A number of themes will be discussed in order to come up with recommendations to promote areas of human resource development.
Sahar Bint Sa’adi Al Ka’abi, Head of the OCCI Human Resources and Labour Market Committee, said the ability of these specialised workshops to formulate insights and ideas in various aspects of the employer-worker, and employer-authorities relations.
The workshop is being held within the context of growing interest of the OCCI, represented by the Human Resources and Labour Market Committee in topics and issues of the national human resources in light of the attention accorded by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said, the government authorities and the private sector in this aspect, she said. Managing directors, CEOs, directors general, human resources managers and personnel interested in the labour sector are participating in the workshop.
The workshop began by providing a set of themes and discussions on 10 themes, including contracts of employment, wages, incentives, vacations, working hours, training and career development, performance appraisal, job security, Omanisation, unionism and labour disputes and disciplinary proceedings.
The opening ceremony was attended by officials and stakeholders in public, private and civil society organisations, businessmen and women and representatives of companies and establishments of the private sector in the Sultanate.
