| OCCI looks to boost India trade ties |
MUSCAT HE Khalil Bin Abdullah Al Khonji, Chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), on Monday explored means to promote trade relations with the private sector in India.
Khonji received an Indian trade delegation led by KKM Kutti, former chairman of CII (GCC countries) and MD of Southwest West Group of Companies, in the presence of Indian ambassador to the Sultanate.
Khonji said that there are many opportunities in both countries, such as investment in manufacturing, energy sectors, oil, gas, human resources development, education and health. He added that the countries can reach higher levels of economic cooperation through joint action to identify challenges and difficulties of traders in the countries and develop solutions to facilitate commercial movement between the sides. The Indian ambassador to the Sultanate said that the level of economic ties between the Sultanate and India has grown well in recent years and culminated in 2008 and 2009 with high rates of trade transactions in many sectors including manufacturing, construction and financial intermediation, calling upon traders and investors to exert further efforts and cooperation to push forward the economy towards higher growth rates.
Kutti said that India looks to build business relationships with the Sultanate in various available fields. He added that this could be achieved through finding investment opportunities in the countries and cooperation to implement projects in sectors.
