| PDO signs pacts with ministries to fund three social projects |
MUSCAT Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) recently signed three Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Social Development, Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries to support the wider Omani society.
The agreement with the Ministry of Social Development is to provide Muscat Disabled Children Centre with a 24-seat-fit-for-purpose bus for 137 cerebral palsy affected children at the al Khoudh-based centre. The bus is equipped with a special lift to help children board and alight, and straps that lock wheelchairs to protect the passenger during braking.
PDO is upgrading 58 interactive classrooms that it had earlier provided to schools in Oman through an agreement with the Ministry of Education. It is in line with the government’s efforts to upgrade teaching methods.
PDO has also signed an MoU with the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries to provide 300 artificial reef balls at three various sites in Muscat to attract fish, eliminate safety hazards associated with fishing near restricted areas, expand fishing area for local fishermen and enhance bio-diversity around the coral reefs.
“The initiatives are a few examples of PDO’s commitment to support the community where sustainable development is an integral theme,” said Suleiman Bin Mohammed Al Mantheri, external affairs and communication manager, PDO.
